NATIONAL DECISION, LOCAL IMPACT

This week, President John Dramani Mahama announced the dissolution of Boards of several state-owned institutions, including the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). The decision, communicated through the Presidency, takes immediate effect, with new Boards to be reconstituted later.

In Chereponi, the news has stirred strong reactions. Many residents expressed disappointment because their Member of Parliament serves on the GNPC Board, raising concerns about the district’s representation at the national level.

Community voices are divided: Some are questioning the accountability and effectiveness of board members, asking whether their presence translated into tangible development for the district.  Others see this as an opportunity for renewal, calling for stronger leadership and transparency in future appointments.

Nationally, the affected institutions include BOST, VALCO, CBG, Ghana Post, GNPC, and the National Sports Authority, among others. The Presidency emphasized that the move was taken in line with governing laws and that reconstitution will follow.

This Monday, 31st August , history was made in Chereponi The CAMA Chereponi District Members , in partnership with the CAMA National Committee , proudly handed over newly renovated classrooms at Sangbana JHS . For years, students and teachers struggled with dilapidated facilities. Today, thanks to this joint effort, Sangbana JHS now has a safer, brighter and more conducive environment for learning.
